The Podtronics regulator / rectifier replaces the troublesome Lucas rectifier and zener diode on British motorcycles such as Triumph, BSA and Norton. Gives you hassle-free operation, a very nice (and I consider necessary) upgrade to your electrical system. If you are trying to get that stripped down look use this podtronics unit and ditch your battery, zener diode, and rectifier. It is all built into this package with the addition of a capacitor. Podtronics Part # POD-4-1-MAX NOTES:
1) This regulator may not provide enough power when using an electronic ignition system and no battery
2) Your rotor and stator must be putting out the correct amount of AC voltage to be able to run without a battery, if it is 50 year original equipment it may not be up to snuff
3) Designed to be used with or without, a battery installed in the bike. The design includes an internal storage capacitor allowing starting when operating without a battery.
4) This unit is for 12Volt AC systems and will not work on bikes with 6 Volt DC generators. If you are looking for an easy way to mount your regulator on a 1963 - 1970 Triumph motorcycle, the Lowbrow Customs Regulator Mounting Bracket
is a very clean and simple solution. It even includes the mounting hardware!
