A solo seat pivot, or solo seat hinge, is used at the front of sprung motorcycle solo seats to allow the solo seat to pivot. The seat springs at the rear of the seat provide suspension and comfort for the rider. 

A lot of the hardtail bobbers, choppers or vintage motorcycles as well as bikes with suspension, like Harley-Davidson® Sportsters®, Shovelheads® and Softails® can use solo seat hinges to add a cool look to the bike while adding some comfort and function. 

Riding a motorcycle without rear suspension can simply be painful. If you have ever had the pleasure of hitting the perfect pothole on a hardtail, the experience can be enlightening. The sharp pain of your spine being driven through the top of your skull is a good reminder that adding a bolt on a solo seat hinge and a sprung seat is a good investment. You get to keep that great hardtail look while saving your spine from painful potholes.
