Highest quality available with perfect fit and finish
Made in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
The Gasbox full frames are the highest quality and best engineered available. This frame allows direct bolt-in fitment for 1957-1981 Harley Ironhead Sportster engines. It will also accept 1982-1985 Ironhead Sportster engines, though the rear motor mount on these years needs unbolted and replaced with the earlier rear motor mount , Harley OEM # 16203-67, so it will directly bolt in place. All 1 inch tubing, completely TIG welded and made in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Unlike other custom frames, the Gasbox full rigid frame uses stock motor mounts all around, with the engine cradled low in the frame rails just like a stock bike. This looks much cleaner and keeps the finished chopper looking lean and handling better with a lower center of gravity. The frame will require use of early style front motor plates (Gasbox Motor Mount Plates SKU 005585 or Harley OEM 16210-52 or A-22041), and also requires an early style kickstand.
The neck has a 30 degree rake and is 2" higher than the stock location. The neck is set up for a 1" stem, and utilizes 1" stem Timken style neck cups. This stem size is very common and is found on narrow glide front ends on Sportsters 1982 and later, and on Harley Big Twin front ends, including narrow glide, wide glide, OEM and most aftermarket springer front ends.
The rigid rear hardtail section has approximately 3 inches of stretch and is set up to have 2 inches of drop. This means that with a front end and wheels on the bike the lower frame rails sit 2 inches closer to the ground than stock for that perfect stance. The axle plates are set up for a standard 3/4 inch rear axle and accepts a stock disc brake Sportster rear axle such as SKU 015349 Chrome Rear Axle Kit . This frame also has the Dished Oil Tank SKU 012459 included and with the bracket welded in place. The Gasbox Battery Box Adapter Plate allows easy mounting of all Gasbox universal battery boxes to all Gasbox Full Frames and also features an integrated lower fender support. That lower fender support combined with the the integrated center fender bracket allows for a weld free fender mounting experience. The gas tank mounts on this frame are designed for direct bolt on for a variety of Frisco style gas tanks, no welding required!
The following custom gas tanks are a direct bolt on for this frame:
This frame is designed for use with disc brake rear wheels, and requires the use of a custom rear brake caliper and caliper bracket . Stock Sportster disc brake rear wheel and axle are a perfect fit. Aftermarket wheels can also work though you will have to pay attention to proper spacing to ensure your chain lines up. Some options are Cycle Standard 16 x 3.00 inch rear wheels, such as the Black SKU 010383 or Chrome SKU 010382 .
This frame includes the oil tank, rear engine mounting hardware, and axle adjusting bolts.
Once you receive the frame you will follow the included instructions and contact the Gasbox and the MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) will be mailed directly to you. This will have the frame's individual serial number (stamped into the the neck of the frame) as well as the purchaser's information. This is needed in most places when titling a custom motorcycle.
Note: There are no returns on carburetors, electrical items, full frames, hardtails or made-to-order items (such as magnetos) unless there is a manufacturer’s defect.
NOTE: 1975-1976 models with a left hand shift will require that the gear shifter be converted to right side shift by changing it internally inside the engine. Please be aware these frames are designed for a rear disc brake set up and the factory drum brake rear wheel is not going to work. Additionally you can not use the stock XL front forks that have a 7/8" stem, these frames are designed for using bearing cups that would normally fit a big twin frame and would use 1 inch bearings.
