Lowbrow Customs has been represented at The Horse Smokeout since around 2007 or so, back when it was still going on in Salisbury, NC. Back then it was just me at Lowbrow, and it was a part-time gig, evenings and weekends after my normal job as a sign maker.
All these years later, we still consider The Smokeout to be one of the most unique shows in the country, a show that draws in real bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts, people who ride bikes, work on bikes, build bikes, and will be doing so for many years to come.
People come to Rockingham, NC from all over the country for one solid reason; to have fun! In general, attitudes and egos are left at home. In addition to choppers you can see all sort of weird home-built machines putting around the show area and the camp grounds, some people wear costumes (not cool-guy motorcycle scenester costumes but legit costumes!), have some drinks, check out bikes and the bands and in general have a great time.
This year Lowbrow did a raffle with the grand prize being a 1974 Shovelhead rebuilt by The Gasbox, a titled Harley-Davidson Shovelhead Frame, and a $500 Lowbrow Customs gift card! The second place prize was a set of Led Sled - Invader Wheels, and third place was a Gasbox rear motorcycle fender and DIY Sissy Bar Kit.
The rules were you must be present to win, which led to a lot of excitement when the time came to pull the winning tickets on the main stage on Saturday night. Those who won were understandably stoked, and we look forward to the plans for The Horse Smokeout 19 in June 2018. See you there!
