THROTTLE & IDLE CABLE MEASUREMENT DEFINITIONS
See the example diagram above to see how this cable is measured. Note that the diagram is just an example, and is not a drawing of this exact cable! Also, there can be variations of these measurements by +/- .25" (6mm) due to manufacturing tolerances.
Cable End Type: Types are 'Push In' and 'Threaded'. For Harley-Davidson throttle and idle cables 'Push In' is 1996-up, 'Threaded' style is 1995 and earlier.
Elbow Length: Overall length of elbow section, if there is one.
Elbow Angle: 45 degree, 90 degree, or N/A (no elbow)
Housing Length: Overall length of cable housing, not including adjuster or elbow. Measurement stops at elbow where black housing meets chrome.
Free Play: The full amount of travel of the inner cable. Pull inner cable fully to one side, measure length, not including cable end (ferrule) or return spring.
